Tasting - Beringer Founders' Estate Pinot Noir

Name: Beringer Founders' Estate
Variety: Pinot Noir
Region: California
Country: USA
Year: 2012
Price: $7.99

Winery Review: The Beringer Founders’ Estate Pinot Noir is bright ruby in color and displays ripe currant flavors rounded out by aromas of cedar and spice. This wine has immediate fruit-forward flavors that balance well with the toasty smokiness of the oak. It would pair perfectly with a red wine risotto or grilled salmon.

My Review: I thought that the nose sort of smelled like feet and cheese and was fairly oaky. It was fairly tangy but also very light and had a nice magenta color. It was a little more acidic than any of the other Pinot Noir's that I have had so it was not one of my favorites. I think that it would pair nicely with a sharp cheese to take some of the acidic structure away.

I did not taste this wine with food.
